{"id":24620,"date":"2022-08-22T12:15:59","date_gmt":"2022-08-22T12:15:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test.somethinghaute.com\/legendary-singer-nayyara-noor-dies-at-age-71\/"},"modified":"2022-08-22T12:15:59","modified_gmt":"2022-08-22T12:15:59","slug":"legendary-singer-nayyara-noor-dies-at-age-71","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.somethinghaute.com\/?p=24620","title":{"rendered":"Legendary singer Nayyara Noor dies at age 71"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload_inited aligncenter size-large wp-image-83293\" src=\"https:\/\/test.somethinghaute.com\/images\/2022\/08\/FotoJet-40-1024x512.jpg\" alt=\"Nayyara Noor\" width=\"1024\" height=\"512\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of Pakistan\u2019s greatest singers, renowned as the Nightingale of Pakistan, Nayyara Noor, died after a brief illness in Karachi on August 22, at the age of 71.<\/p>\n<p>Nayyara Noor was born in November 1950 in Guwahati, Assam in India, where she spent her early childhood before her family relocated to Karachi. She went to the prestigious National College of Arts in Lahore, where her singing talent was discovered, and in the late 60s she had made her debut on state television.<\/p>\n<p>In a versatile career full of iconic songs, she will forever be remembered for her renditions of work by Pakistan\u2019s famous revolutionary poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz \u2013 music released in a 1976 compilation called Nayyara Sings Faiz.<\/p>\n<p>She also sang some of Pakistan\u2019s most memorable patriotic tunes, including <em>Sohni Dharti, Watan Ki Mitti Gawah Rehna<\/em> as well as countless songs for Pakistani films and dramas. In a career spanning over four decades, Noor won plenty of accolades including the Nigar Award in 1973 for best playback singer <em>(Gharana)<\/em>. She was also given the Pride of Performance award by the government in 2006 for her contributions to the arts.<\/p>\n<p>She eventually retired from singing in 2012.
