{"id":24116,"date":"2022-01-20T06:19:20","date_gmt":"2022-01-20T06:19:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test.somethinghaute.com\/senator-faisal-javed-introduces-resolution-to-encourage-artist-royalties\/"},"modified":"2022-01-20T06:19:20","modified_gmt":"2022-01-20T06:19:20","slug":"senator-faisal-javed-introduces-resolution-to-encourage-artist-royalties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.somethinghaute.com\/?p=24116","title":{"rendered":"Senator Faisal Javed introduces resolution to encourage artist royalties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>KARACHI: <\/strong>In 2021, actor Naila Jaffery&#8217;s video went viral, where she was requesting for royalties for her TV plays as she struggled to pay for her medical treatment while battling.<\/p>\n<p>After that, Senator Faisal Javed Khan introduced a resolution guaranteeing royalties for artists in parliament and recently took to Twitter to announce that it had been passed unanimously by the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman Standing Committee on Info and Broadcasting, Khan tweeted saying, \u201cCongratulations, as the resolution has been passed by the Senate Pakistan unanimously today. Appreciate the support from all the members of the house.\u201d He added a hashtag that read \u201cRoyalties for artists\u201d as well.<\/p>\n<p>This has been hailed as a landmark move for the Pakistani entertainment industry as the issue of royalties is one of the biggest and most unfortunate struggles faced by artists.<\/p>\n<p>Celebrities took to Twitter to applaud the announcement:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Congratulations to TV\/Film fraternity <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SenatePakistan?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SenatePakistan<\/a> has unanimously passed resolution with the objective to empower Copyright Board to fix royalties for licensing and assignment of work and ensure payments to artists.
