Virgil Abloh, the American-born son of Ghanaian immigrants who became fashion’s highest profile Black designer and the creative mind behind Louis Vuitton’s menswear collections, passed away on November 28 at age 41, following a two-year battle with \u201ca rare, aggressive form of cancer\u201d called cardiac angiosarcoma, according to a statement posted on his Instagram, a health issue that was unknown to the public until his death.<\/p>\n

According to Reuters<\/em>, Abloh, who also worked as a DJ and visual artist, had been men’s artistic director for Vuitton, the world’s biggest luxury brand, since March 2018.<\/p>\n

Abloh \u201cchose to endure his battle privately\u201d and underwent \u201cnumerous challenging treatments, all while helming several significant institutions that span fashion, art, and culture,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
