One of the most popular TV dramas of recent times, Alif<\/em> starring Hamza Ali Abbasi, Sajal Aly, Ahsan Khan, Kubra Khan, Manzar Sehbai and several other stars might not have been a commercial success, however, it did have a niche audience that appreciated the content and garnered critical acclaim.<\/p>\n

Alif<\/em> is an adaptation of Umera Ahmad’s novel of the same name, directed by Haseeb Hassan and beautifully shot by Asad Mumtaz Malik who plays Guru in the currently airing drama, Parizaad<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The credit for the beautiful shots and frames that we fell in love with while watching Alif<\/em> goes to Asad who shares that he would cry while filming the project.<\/p>\n

“Haseeb Hassan approached me for Alif<\/em> and said you have to do this project. The first sentence he said to me that got stuck in my head was that this is a project for Allah, don’t let it go,” shared Asad while speaking to Hassan Choudary of Something Haute<\/em>.<\/p>\n

When he read the script, he was sure he wanted to do this drama. “Everything I did while working on this project was from Allah. It is an exceptional serial, one that gets made in decades.”<\/p>\n

Asad feels it’s important for a drama to be soulful. “Alif<\/em> is Allah’s serial. The way it has been flawlessly shot proves it was being taken care of by Him.”<\/p>\n

While it was a flawless project, Asad’s biggest challenge while shooting the play was to control his tears. “Every time Manzar Sehbai would read ayats<\/em> (verses) and their translation, my eyes would be wet with tears and I would find it hard to focus on the camera.”<\/p>\n
