Creating one of the most ground-breaking memories of recent times, French filmmaker Julia Ducournau became the second-ever female director to win the Palme d\u2019Or, with her audacious <em>Titane<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The last time a woman scooped the top prize was in 1993 when Jane Campion shared honors in a tie between her <em>The Piano<\/em> and Chen Kaige\u2019s <em>Farewell My Concubine<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Ducournau <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2021\/07\/cannes-film-festival-2021-winners-full-list-1234795027\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spoke<\/a> in French, to explain she had watched awards ceremonies from a young age and \u201cwas sure that all winners must be perfect because they were on this stage.
